Auction, Dealer or Private Seller: Compare the Purchase Handoff
Choose a seller by the evidence and handoff they can provide, not by assuming one seller type is always cheaper or safer. Compare condition information, documents, payment scope and collection arrangements on the same checklist.

Ask the same questions
Who owns the vehicle, who can authorize release, what condition evidence exists, and which fees are outside the price? Request the actual terms rather than relying on a category label such as ‘dealer approved.’ Confirm any warranty or return promise in its written terms; do not assume it applies to an export purchase.
Compare collection responsibilities
An auction may use a formal release process; a private seller may need a specifically agreed meeting and authorization. A dealer’s opening hours do not establish carrier access. Obtain the pickup address, contact, operating window and accepted loading method before arranging transport.
Choose with a complete record
Record price, extra fees, evidence gaps and document readiness for each option. A lower price with unresolved ownership or inspection concerns may not be comparable to a documented alternative. Keep purchase advice separate from the carrier’s transport scope.
