Auction Offsite Pickup: Confirm Where the Vehicle Actually Sits

An auction branch name is not enough to route a truck. For a Copart or IAA purchase stored elsewhere, ask the selling location to confirm the physical collection instructions before FleetX assesses the ground leg and onward ocean connection.

Reconcile the sale and storage addresses

Ask which address the assigned carrier must use and who controls access there. Record the contact, entry procedure and vehicle reference together. Do not dispatch to the selling office because it appears on an invoice, or use an old pickup address from another purchase.

Check site-specific loading

Confirm available hours, appointment requirements and whether loading assistance is provided for this unit. Describe ground clearance, rolling ability and loose items to FleetX. Ask the site and carrier to resolve equipment compatibility before arrival; an auction’s general pickup guidance does not establish what an offsite storage operator will permit.

Update the connected quote

If the actual site differs from the quoted address, request a reviewed collection scope before instructing transport. Ask whether the change affects receiving timing or the proposed ocean leg. Retain the confirmed location with the release file so driver, coordinator and purchasing representative all use the same physical destination.

Example: sale office and physical pickup site

Hypothetical location review: the invoice names Office A, while the unit is reported at Storage B. Neither label is an actual auction address. Ask the selling contact to confirm where the assigned truck must attend before FleetX revises dispatch.

Use the confirmed site record to review ground cost, receiving timing and the onward ocean connection. Retain who confirmed each fact and when; a dispatch instruction should reflect the current accepted location rather than the invoice heading.
