RoRo vs Container Vehicle Shipping: Compare the Full Journey
The best ocean method depends on vehicle acceptance, loading needs, route availability and the complete quote. Compare RoRo and container shipping at the same origin and destination, with the same vehicle condition and service scope. An ocean-only price cannot decide a door-to-door shipment.

Check eligibility before price
With RoRo, the operator determines how an accepted vehicle is driven or otherwise handled during embarkation and discharge. Container shipping needs an agreed loading and securing plan. Ask each provider about running condition, dimensions, damage, leaks, batteries and loose items. Neither method automatically accepts every non-running or damaged vehicle.
Compare like-for-like costs
List inland pickup, loading, ocean transport, unloading, destination handling and final delivery in separate rows. Mark insurance, customs work, taxes, storage and exceptional handling as included, excluded or still unknown. For shared containers, ask how consolidation readiness affects scheduling and who controls unloading. Confirm currencies and quote validity before comparing totals.
Make a decision you can explain
A single running vehicle may fit one operator’s RoRo service; several vehicles may justify reviewing consolidation. A valuable or unusual vehicle may need a more specific protection and handling plan. These are questions to test with providers, not automatic recommendations. Record the reason for your choice and what remains conditional before booking.
